GREENVILLE – Darke County Common Pleas Court Judge Jonathan P. Hein handed down a $25,000 bond Wednesday afternoon for the suspect in the Aug. 4 home invasion of an elderly Greenville woman.

Randy L. Hofacker, 53, of Greenville, has been charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery, a felony of the first degree, after investigators believe he broke into the home of a 90-year-old woman Saturday night.

Police responded to a call from a neighbor to find the elderly woman had been robbed and assaulted. Hofacker was arrested the following day after evidence led them to believe he was the assailant. The elderly woman suffered bruising to her face and arms during the offense and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Hofacker strongly denied the allegations during Wednesday’s initial appearance, telling the judge that “this is a big mis-identification” and he was “at his parents’ house that night and not even in town”.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 15 in Municipal Court. Pending a Grand Jury indictment, Hofacker faces up to 11 years and a $20,000 fine if convicted as charged.
