HOLLANSBURG – A Blue Ribbon Arson Reward of up to $5,000 has been issued for any information that may lead to an arrest and conviction in connection with a residence that was completely destroyed by fire over the weekend in Hollansburg.
Following an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office the May 31 fire of a vacant home at 2585 Hollansburg-Richmond Rd. was officially ruled an arson. According to investigators, the ruling came after burn patterns at the site were consistent with the fire being intentionally set. Lab testing is being done to determine if and what type of accelerant may have been used to ignite the fire in the one-story brick home.
The fire was discovered as firefighters and deputies were on the scene of a truck fire nearby. According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle fire is not confirmed to be connected to the house fire, but they are not ruling it out. The house was vacant at the time of the fire.
