Inaugural Shine on Corynna 5k is 10/5

GREENVILLE – The Shine on Corynna Event is a 5k glow-in-the-dark race and family event. It will take place on Oct. 5, at the Darke County Fairgrounds, 800 Sweitzer St. Greenville. The event will kick off at 4 p.m., with games, face painting, raffles, door prizes and chicken dinners for sale. The race will begin as the sun sets, at 7:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This event is being held to help spread awareness about Mitochondrial Disease and to give back to the community that played such a large role in the life and legacy of Corynna Strawser, a courageous 16 year old girl whose life was tragically cut short by Mitochondrial Disease. All of the proceeds from this event will be divided among the Corynna Strawser Research Fund, through the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, a scholarship fund at Greenville High School and the “Corynna’s Wish” program that grants wishes to patients, through State of the Heart Hospice.

Registration forms are available on the “Shine on Corynna 1st annual 5k run/walk” Facebook page, or register online at www.goodtimesraces.com.

For more information, contact Rachel Easter, Courage for Corynna Foundation Representative, 329-1385 or via email at racheleaster@ymail.com.
