PT Cruiser slams into box truck, injures 2

DARKE COUNTY – Two people were injured when a box truck pulled in front of their vehicle near Wayne Lakes just after midnight Saturday. Emergency crews responded to the crash at the State Route 121 and 503 intersection.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a Penske rental truck hauling a car on a trailer pulled out from the stop sign at State Route 503. The truck entered the path of a northbound silver PT Cruiser on Ohio 121 which slammed into the trailer as the truck was attempting to turn southbound.

The male driver and his female passenger in the PT Cruiser were transported to Wayne HealthCare with injuries. CareFlight was initially dispatched, but later cancelled after medical personnel determined the patients were not critically injured.

The out-of-state father and son in the truck were not injured. The driver was cited for Failure to Yield.  State Route 121 was closed down for nearly and hour while crews cleaned up the scene.
